Triton Fall XI @ UCSD [10-28-23]

Post by YusAm »

The UCSD Quizbowl team is excited to announce Triton Fall XI, to be hosted on our campus on Saturday, October 28th, 2023.

This tournament will have a varsity division run on Harvard Fall Tournament and a junior varsity division run on QUAOAR. It will be directed by Grace Wang and me, Yusuf Amanullah.

Eligibility:
Any high school student can participate in the varsity division.
In the novice division, all members of a team must meet all of the following requirements:
- not scored 50+ ppg at a junior varsity/novice tournament
- not scored 30+ ppg at a varsity/HS-regs tournament
- not scored 10+ ppg at a national-level high school tournament (HSNCT, PACE NSC, IQBT NASAT, etc.)
Exceptions may be granted under specific circumstances at the tournament directors' discretion. You can check statistics for eligibility here.

Middle school teams and players are not allowed to participate in the tournament.

Pricing:
New schools (schools that did not play a tournament in the 2022-2023 season) will pay a flat fee of $30 per team.
Returning schools will pay a base fee of $80 per team, with potential discounts.
There is a minimum fee of $30, after discounts, for each new or returning team.

Discounts:
-$5 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
-$10 per experienced moderator that provides their own laptop or tablet capable of editing Google Sheets
-$5 per 50 miles traveled per team (one-way)

Early Registration Discounts:
-$10 per team that registers on or before October 14th.

How to Register:
We are using Google forms for registrations. To register, use this link. More logistics information (including information about payment methods) will be provided in the week preceding the tournament to teams that have registered. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected].

Registration Limits:
We will implement a soft field cap of 10 teams per division until we can confirm rooms and staffers. Returning schools will be limited to registering three teams each. Any additional teams they would like to register will be placed onto a waitlist. If reserved spots are not filled one week prior to the tournament or we can expand the field cap, teams on the waitlist will be let off.
