Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
Is there any interest in side events? I see TELEOLGY and Ani's film set are both available. I'm biased since I'll be in new york anyway, but I'd love to play something after the tournament saturday or sunday if people are around and it's no trouble to Columbia.

Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
I'd be properly terrible at TELEOLOGY so I'd be happy to read if it's organized, since I'd like to experience the (likely very cool) questions. Hopefully that increases the chances it could be run. I could also do the organizing if that'd help, provided Columbia is able to provide rooms/buzzers.
EDIT: and if people wanted to parlay this into multiple side events, with something on Sunday, I'd also be down to play Acronym or Ani's film set (or really any other set out there, though I'm unsure any others are).

Provided I don't end up having other plans, I'll happily play TELEOLOGY as well.

Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
To be clear I’d like to play TELEOLOGY 3, since 2 was already played online, though of course that’s up to Taylor.

Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
I don't want to hijack the sheet, so would someone from Columbia be able to add a second tab in the sheet so we could gauge interest in TELEOLOGY3? (unless Taylor minds I assume the wisest move is to pick the one no one has played, though it makes no difference to me, having played neither) Alternatively I can make this, I'd just want permission.

If we can play the film set as well, that would also be great

Has there been any confirmation of which side events are happening, and, if so, anywhere to figure out team formation for them?

Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
Geoffrey just let me know Columbia is cool with an informal side event afterwards, so I'm setting the tab up right now. I gather the current plan is TELEOLOGY 3? If the field forms and includes no one who played 2, we can run that instead.
EDIT: Since I'm not sure how big the field will be, I've currently just included a "player" column, and I figure we can collectively decide if we want to run 4s, 2s, or a shootout style event based on the field size. I've also included a column where people can indicate if they played TELEOLOGY 2.

Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
Sorry for the late reply: yes, the current plan is to run TELEOLOGY after the main tournament has concluded, using the same game rooms. Columbia/the TD won't be organizing anything officially, but players are welcome to run it amongst themselves (and I think at least one Columbia person will be playing? in case that's an issue)
If anyone wants to run any other side events at the same time / after TELEOLOGY, you're welcome to do that too and make new tabs on the spreadsheet or figure it out the day of the tournament.

Re: ESPN @ Columbia (Open)
Sorry this is late, but it seems like the best plan is to play TELEOLOGY as a shootout in 2 rooms, and after a few rounds doing an upper and lower room for the next few packets. Starting after a dinner break seems the wisest idea to me. If people have input or better ideas let me know. I'll post updates here tomorrow about specific times.

Thank you to William, the rest of the staffers, and the ESPN editors/writers for a fun day of quizbowl! Thanks also due to Emmett for heroically dragging the TELEOLOGY mirror into existence, Michael for staffing it, and Taylor for another very entertaining set of questions.
