A question for experienced quiz bowlers and NAQT members:

How does NAQT choose which teams and people get records?

Their methodologies are clearly displayed on the respective records pages, e.g.

These are the all-time best individual performances in single games, subject to the above criteria. Players must have heard at least 10 tossups to be eligible and must not have played under an alias. Only tournaments on NAQT questions, using NAQT scoring rules, are considered.

Posting two links isn't very helpful without actually elaborating what you wanted explained since it requires a lot of inference. Now, based on how you post about your ppg a lot I assume you are wondering why your PPG from this tournament isn't included on the record book. If you go back to David's post which he very clearly and helpfully took the time to take the text of, you might remember that it says

Only tournaments on NAQT questions, using NAQT scoring rules, are considered.

I am not sure about the specifics of this tournament you played, however seems to suggest as follows


It does appear that the tournament you are referencing (or at least the division you played) does not appear to be on NAQT questions per the above condition that David has already posted.

Please let us know if you have any further questions as these forums are a valuable resource that let you tap the minds of many experienced players. I would also work on reading a bit more carefully as well, as this is a skill that is vital in both school and even in quizbowl-like activities!

Andrew is correct: the records pages on naqt.com only rank statistics compiled on NAQT questions. (We sometimes record statistics from non-NAQT sets, most commonly in the case where "one division of a tournament uses our questions and the other uses a non-NAQT question provider," but we do not remotely claim to have anything like a complete archive of statistically impressive non-NAQT performances.)
