DMA @ Maryland (3/9/24)

Hi Everyone, I'm excited to announce that Maryland will be hosting a mirror of DMA on March 9th, 2024. More information on the set can be found here. I, Emily Bussa, will be serving as the tournament director.

Time and Location
The tournament will take place in the Computer Science Instructional Center. The address is as follows:

We will start registration at 8:30 am and will begin games at or around 9 am.

Registration
This tournament is a "closed" tournament, i.e. teams must be from a single academic institution. You can register for this tournament by emailing me at [email protected]. When registering, please let me know how many teams, buzzers, and staffers you expect to bring, along with (tentative) team rosters. The last day to register for this tournament will be Wednesday March 6th, 2024.

Fees
Base Fee: $120 per team
New to Quizbowl Discount: -$80
Buzzers: -$10 per working buzzer system
Staffers: -$20 per competent staffer with a working laptop/charger

The new to quizbowl discount is intended for schools that have not sent a team to any mainstream collegiate academic tournament (not counting exclusively novice tournaments) since September 2022, and which have no players who competed in non-novice collegiate tournaments during that same period.

Will high school teams be allowed at this tournament?

I'm personally fine with allowing the set to be used on a combined field, but it's obviously UMD's decision whether they want to actually do it.

Hello ! Sorry for the delayed response, wanted to double check with admin first — yes, high school teams will be allowed at the tournament.
