This is an open call for writers and editors for QANTA, a humans vs. computers quiz bowl set to be tentatively played in Summer 2024. Questions will be written to be pyramidal for both humans and AI models. To help with this process, you’ll have access to an interface that provides feedback on how difficult questions are for models.
To grow on previous iterations of QANTA, we’re aiming to have a more formal writing process. Experience using large language models such as ChatGPT is helpful but not necessary.
There will be a minimum of 12 packets (tossups only), aiming for 2-dot level with questions capped at 5 lines (575 characters).
Payment is $5 per question written and $2.50 for question edited. If you are interested in getting involved in the research side of the project, there may be opportunities for that as well.
To apply, please fill out this form by March 26. Potential writers should submit two tossups, and potential editors should submit four tossups (submitted tossups don’t need to be original for this tournament or meet our difficulty/length constraints). We look forward to reading your applications!
