The tournament will take place at Auburn High School, located at 5110 Auburn St, Rockford, IL 61101. Teams should arrive around 8 AM; the opening meeting will begin at 8:30 AM and gameplay will begin as close to 8:45 AM as possible. Auburn's head coach, Nevagay Abel, and I will be serving as co-tournament directors; please direct any questions about this site to me at [email protected], and I'll loop in Neva as needed.
Eligibility
ACF has a series of eligibility restrictions for its college tournaments, but these eligibility restrictions do not apply to high school only mirrors. This tournament merely follows the usual eligibility rules standard at Illinois tournaments.
Target Audience
ACF Fall is an introductory college tournament, which means that this tournament will be more challenging than the average high school tournament, though not as difficult as the college question sets used in the upper division of Reinstein Varsity. Sample questions can be found at https://collegiate.quizbowlpackets.com, with last year's tournament available here.
We anticipate to have a strong field at this site, featuring national playoff contenders from Illinois and outside the state. We also anticipate being able to offer competitive games to teams looking to jump to that level. For reference, please see the stats from the 2022 iteration of this tournament. I strongly recommend this tournament for any team that intends on competing at the NAQT Illinois State Championship, NAQT SSNCT, NAQT HSNCT, and/or PACE NSC, either in the 2024-2025 season or with younger players in future years. If you have any questions as to whether this tournament (or any tournament, really!) is appropriate for your team, send me an email at [email protected].
Rules
This tournament will follow ACF’s official gameplay rules. Rules specifically pertaining to online tournaments have been rendered in blue.
