2024 NAQT Collegiate Novice at the University of Florida (9/21/24)

Post by mutemagpie »

I am pleased to announce that the University of Florida will be hosting the 2024 Florida Collegiate Novice Invitational on Saturday, September 21st, 2024!

This tournament will be run on NAQT's CNS-231C set, which shares content with IS-231. For this reason, high school teams or coaches may not attend this tournament.

We are currently in the process of reserving rooms for this tournament. Teams should expect to arrive at the University of Florida at 8:45 A.M. for the opening meeting, and gameplay will begin at 9:00 A.M. I, Tiffany Zhou, will be the tournament director. Please direct any questions about this tournament to me at [email protected].

Eligibility
This tournament is intended for novice and casual players. We would prefer to err on the side of letting those interested play, but players meeting any of the following criteria must contact me for permission:
  • Was on a team that finished T-49 at HSNCT or T-24 at PACE NSC
  • Has scored more than 35 PP20TUH during the prelims of HSNCT or 40 PPG during the prelims of PACE NSC
  • Has scored more than 30 PPG at any non-novice collegiate tournament or 40 PPG at any novice collegiate tournament (including ACF Fall)
  • Has previously qualified for or attended ICT or ACF Nationals
We reserve the right to determine if a player or team is too skilled to play this set. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns about your eligibility.

Registration and Fees
Registration should be done through NAQT. The registration deadline is Thursday, September 19th. There is a field cap of 12 teams for this tournament.

We will be using the following fee structure:
  • +$75 base fee per team
  • -$10 per functional buzzer set (max. 3)
  • -$15 per approved staffer with a functional laptop
  • -$35 for short-handed teams (1 to 2 players)
  • -$25 "new to quizbowl" discount for schools that have not sent a team to any regular collegiate academic tournament since September 2023
The minimum fee is $40 per team.

Field
To be updated.
