Grapes of Smath IV at NCSSM (Durham, NC) - 4/4/2020

Hello everyone, NCSSM is pleased to announce the fourth annual Grapes of Smath tournament on Saturday, April 4th, 2020. We will be reading the Harvard Fall Tournament XIV question set (regular-plus difficulty, harder than IS sets).

Cost: The cost is $60 per team, with a $10 reduction for each functional buzzer system (must have at least eight buzzers, limit to one set per team brought). To pay, please mail payment to NCSSM in advance by check (made to NCSSM-SCSSI). Please include on the memo line "Grapes of Smath Quiz Bowl" and the name of your school. Payment is due before the tournament.

Format/Rules: We have a capacity for 18 teams. Each team may have up to 6 players, and substitutions will be allowed at halftime. Standard NAQT rules apply.

Registration: To register, please email [email protected] before 11:59pm on March 28th with your school name, number of teams you’re bringing, and number of buzzers you’re bringing. Your email address will be added to a list for future updates.

Schedule: Check-in will begin at 8:00am in Watts Lobby. There will be a total of 9 rounds, consisting of 5 preliminary rounds in the morning and 4 playoff round-robin rounds in the afternoon, with a lunch break and individual book awards in between. We plan to end by around 4:00pm.

Parking/Food: Please use the main parking lot on W. Club Boulevard. Lunch will not be provided, but there are plenty of options on 9th Street and other streets that are all within walking distance.
