CARD II (HS Regs, 2024-2025)

Hello, hsquizbowl!

I am pleased to announce on behalf of livi qb that the second edition of CARD (Compiled Academically Rigorous Documents) will be ready for mirrors starting October 1, 2024. CARD is written and edited by a team of active Livingston students and alumni.

CARD II will have 14 packets of uniform difficulty, with 20 tossups and bonuses each. Tossups are capped at 500 characters and are powermarked and pyramidal. Bonuses will each have three parts. CARD will be HS Regular difficulty - comparable to difficulty 3 on QBreader and last year's iteration of CARD - we hope to provide an enjoyable packet reading experiences for novices and veteran players alike. There will be no computational math tossups or bonuses.

CARD II will be head edited by Arav Kaushik and myself (Robert Wang). CARD's editing team will consist of the head editors, Aspen Wu, Ace Chun, Shiva Tegulla, Lelun Li, Kevin Zhang, Benny Feldman, Ethan Liu, and Aum Mundhe. If we take on more editors, this list will be updated accordingly.

Mirror fees are 15 dollars per team, house or otherwise. We request that no edits be made to our packet by tournament hosts, and hope to have mirrors in every region of the US.

Our mainsite tournament will be held at Livingston High School on November 2, 2024.

All questions have been written and the editing process is currently underway.

The Kentucky Quizbowl Alliance (KQBA) would like to mirror the CARD II set at our Alumni Challenge event in early March. This event is aimed at previous HS players and coaches. Last year our Alumni Challenge had 6 teams, and we hope to have even more this year!

If there's any additional information you need from the KQBA for us to officially mirror the set, please let me know.
