What makes one tournament using an NAQT packet qualify and another using the same packet not qualify? Just simply the fact that it hasn't been requested/asked yet?

That is correct - these tournaments are the ones that requested affiliation at the time of our last review. Since then, we have had more tournaments request affiliation. We are also going to pursue affiliation with tournaments in case quality events exist that have not contacted us.

We are still working on affiliating with tournaments at this time, but it takes time to get PACE members to look over these tournaments and give approval, to gather the appropriate information from TDs and so forth.

I was under the understanding that we had discussed and approved the Missouri Fall Tournament as a PACE qualifier.

It needs to be reviewed according to the process we have set up; I will submit it for review immediately.

I previously neglected to include Russell High School's tournament on this list; this has been corrected. I apologize for the error.

We are using the HSAPQ four quarter fall set.

I just sent out an email to everyone who I have received a request from and that has not appeared on the list above; if you don't receive that shortly, please let me know.

Any chance this will be updated soon? I'm sure you guys have been busy, but I need to send an email out about GSAC soonish and I'd prefer to know about PACE affiliation before that...or to least be able to tell people when I'll know and they can expect a follow-up email.

PACE is pleased to announce two more qualifiers for the NSC in Rock Valley College's The Decemberist on December 6 and Northern Illinois University's Huskie Bowl on February 14. This brings the total of official qualifying events to 30.

We of course would love to have more, so if your event would like to be an official qualifier for the 2009 PACE NSC, please send me an email at [email protected] . This will be of absolutely no cost to your event; all we require is a bit of information regarding the format of your event and what sort of questions you intend to use and we will review it to ensure it matches our criteria.

Fred, I emailed you a while ago about PACE affiliation for the Missouri S&T Fall Tournament; did you receive it?

I also sent a request regarding the Vermont Pre-Holiday Tournament on Dec. 5. Was in received?

These tournaments have now been submitted for review; this process will take at least 48 hours. I hope to be able to update their status Saturday or Sunday of this weekend.

Although I am new on here, may I recommend looking into the spring tournament at the University of Florida (I believe it is the NAQT state championship) and the Commissioner's Academic Challenge at Disney April 20-22, which is also a state championship. They are both tournaments for a state championship and I would think they are capable of being affiliated with PACE.

While PACE thanks you for your suggestions, the Commissioner's Academic Challenge doesn't meet our criteria to serve as an NSC qualifier because it's composed of county all-star teams, not teams from individual high schools. The University of Florida is of course encouraged to apply for qualification for their Spring tournament, and can do so by e-mailing Fred Morlan at [email protected].
